Are you ready to break up with Hourly Billing?

If you’re a lawyer billing by the hour, and you know in your gut that the way you’re working isn’t working, we’re here to tell you there is a better way.

We are Whitney Harper and Gwen Griggs, founders of ADVOS legal. We broke up with hourly billing in 2015, and haven’t looked back.

What we’ve experienced in our practice, using a deliverable-based billing model, is that our clients are thrilled, our team is thriving, we’ve built an incredibly strong community of clients and referral sources, and our firm delivers outsized results in the form of profit, freedom, and flexibility. Need evidence? (We get it – occupational hazard!) Click here.

TIME FOR A CHANGE?

Moving away from hourly billing is a popular concept – in fact, it’s been a “hot topic” in the legal industry for decades. Sadly, we’ve rarely seen anyone figure it out well, largely because the whole industry – its technology, compensation models, “best practices”, and even marketing – is built on the bedrock of hourly billing.

Figuring out how to do it differently, while also serving clients and keeping the lights on, is a big lift. That’s why it was so important to us to take the method we’ve built and offer it to other lawyers – to YOU.

IS THIS FOR YOU?

The first question, though, is whether this shift is right for you – and to answer that, you first must evaluate what results you’re currently getting from your firm. Then, identify what results you want to get, and why. From there, you can determine what changes will take you from current state to your ideal state. We’ve put together this Gap-to-Goal Analysis to help you through that exercise.

In our next post, we’ll walk through how to use the Gap-to-Goal Analysis to evaluate your firm’s Client Experience. Stay tuned!
