Negative Space – Identify What Didn’t Work to Clarify Your Path

Are you, like me, thinking about the big-picture goal you want to accomplish in 2025, and trying to figure out how you’ll make it happen?

>> Maybe if I do X, that will get me to the goal. Or maybe I need to do Y. Is it hiring more people? Shiny new tech? More marketing/ad spend? (And if so, on which platform, and how much, and with what copy?) …. so many possibilities! How to know which one(s) to choose? Do I need to hire an expert coach, or learn more myself?

👩‍🎨 Maybe it’s time to think in terms of negative space.

You might remember this one from art class, way back when – but if not, I’ll fill you in. Negative space is the area around the image; the empty space surrounding the subject of an image.

Sometimes, when it’s hard to define exactly what you need to focus on, you can get there by clarifying what you DON’T need to focus on or what has NOT worked in the past. The negative space helps bring your path into focus.
